Fashion Marketing :
Creative Direction & Consultancy
Which means there are lots of ways I can help make your next project a success - whether it’s Brand Development for a new concept, or creating a Marketing Plan for an established brand.
Here are just a few of my projects…
FREETOWN AFRO CHIC
Launched at London Fashion Week Off Schedule in 2001 we were the first fashion brand to show African wax cotton on an international catwalk. Created to showcase African Fashion as a commercial opportunity, the brand was co-founded with Journalist, now artist Zina Saro-Wiwa and featured and The Sunday Times & Telegraph Magazine UK. Supplying boutiques in London & Europe. We coined the term Afro Chic.

Bravo Collection
Nadia Bremner set out to develop a contemporary range of easy-to-wear garments made of 100% European linen and preserve the decorative art of Ukraine.
During a branding workshop a new brand message was developed ‘Beach to Boardroom’ in order to communicate the versatility of a garment customers might find too precious or not culturally appropriate.
Creative Direction to express the brand message included styling, producing the shoot and negotiating collaboration with Sofitel Sentosa. (Production: sourcing Photographer, Makeup Artist, Model casting and location).

CLYNN By Nature
CLYNN By Nature’s inspiring founder Chemist Lynn Yap, spent years perfecting formulas for her natural hair care products - spending a considerable sum on design agencies. A branding strategy helped Lynn clarify and refine the company’s positioning to create unified but distinct product packaging and supporting collaterals for two separate ranges in order to reflect a new premium price point.

ARTISAN SINGAPORE
2 Day Festival
As Creative Director of Artisan Singapore, I oversaw the concept development, the creation of marketing collaterals (website, flyer, poster, tickets) and event management. Ably assisted with a team of art-loving volunteers.
Artisan Singapore 2019
Artisan was a unique opportunity to pair fashion with art in order to support local fashion brands and creatives. The 2 day event was held at the Tencel ™ Studio, level 2 Cocoon Space at Design Orchard, Singapore. Visitors experienced fashion as art and got a chance to meet designers and see local brands as they have never seen them before.
Discovering Art, Fashion & Performance
Performances included a collaboration between sustainable brand Matter Prints and award-winning Indian contemporary dance company Chowk Productions. The collaboration with Matter Prints saw the dancers slowing down a traditional form of dance to force the audience to pay attention the dancers every move. The piece showcased the dancers skill and perfectly brought to life Matter Print’s message to slow down what we consume.
Elizabeth Grace Couture creates breathtaking changeable wedding gowns which jazz singer Andayoma brought to life with 3 original songs inspired by love and all its stages. The finale saw the haunting sounds of Afro-Caribbean songs lit by candle light and special starlight dress which lights up the bride.
African wax print brand OliveAnkara worked with local performer Sharon Frese who performed one woman monologues about identity and displacement.
Each brand story was animated through dance, performance and fine art. Ashepa Lifestyle a luxury jewellery brand celebrating African artisans, collaborated with painter & art teacher Danielle Solk who created a triptych using mix media portraits honoring the crafts people behind the jewellery.
Binary Style displayed wearable art by hanging their contemporary graphic luxury scarves as art, whilst Shirt Number White, a concept brand focused on the shirt, collaborated with photographer Rowan Chanen. The collection inspired by Shakespeare’s Ophelia was shot in black and white and made arresting images as the white shirts contrasted with majestic trees found in Singapore.
Curated Market showcased local brands Gin Lee, The Ranee of Swarak, Teal By Vrinda, Kanyeka, Boheme Style Nomads and March Baby Collective.
The project was a demonstrations how multi-generational teams can work together. The entire event was organized by 5 volunteers (fashion marketing students) with the support of myself as a lecturer.
In 4 months we developed the event concept and creative collaborations contacting brands and securing the permission to use their work. The Artisan concept was developed into brand visuals, poster, website, copywriting social media campaign and exhibition design. A great achievement giving students experience in event management and creating a concept from scratch.

Wanderlust Hotel
A Boutique Hotel Case Study
One of my favourite buildings in Singapore this Shop house turned boutique hotel was used as a Design Thinking case study to demonstrate how different design disciplines can work together to create new solutions. The final design solution (business model, brand and design strategy) was created through a unique collaboration between Anisa Johnny (Branding & Marketing Communications & Project Management), David Stokes (Architect & Multi-disciplinary Designer), Enrique Castillo (Urban Designer & Spatial Planner) and Jana Dembekalne (Visual Communication). This was a purely research project which should not be used for commercial purposes.
